If you’re trying to grow your following, this one’s for you.

Today, I’m going to give you three simple methods to turn more viewers into followers.

Let’s get into it.

Add a Volatile Call to Action

But what does that mean?

Within your content, whether it’s video or text, the highest-performing calls to action are often the ones that don’t try to please everyone.

In fact, the best CTAs can put off 80% of people.

But here’s the trade-off:

The remaining 10–20% will feel far more connected to you, and are much more likely to follow.

Trying to appeal to everyone on social media doesn’t work.

So instead, focus on deep connection over broad approval.

The key here is to play on emotion.

Make people feel something, whether that’s excitement, curiosity, or even slight frustration, and then give them a reason to follow.

Adding a time-based hook (e.g. “follow to see part 2 tomorrow”) is especially effective, as it creates anticipation.

Add Pinned Comments

This works particularly well on platforms like Instagram and LinkedIn.

Under each piece of content, add a pinned comment that:

  • Encourages people to follow

  • Gives a reason to follow

  • Or directs them to your profile

On Instagram, you can pin up to two comments per post - yet most people don’t use this at all.

Why?

Because they assume one call to action is enough.

It isn’t.

People need to be reminded multiple times before they take action - so give them that opportunity.

Competitions

This is one of the most underused strategies for increasing follower conversion.

For example:

“Who will win the Grand Prix? I’ll follow back everyone who gets it right.”

Then make it clear:

👉 You must follow to enter

This can be adapted to any business:

  • Ice cream shop → free ice cream

  • Café → free coffee or brownie

  • Service business → free audit or consultation

The key is to make the reward:

  • Simple

  • Relevant

  • Easy to understand

You don’t need millions of views.

You just need to give the people already seeing your content a clear reason to follow.

Growing your audience isn’t just about getting more views.

It’s about converting the attention you already have.

If you:

  • Create stronger calls to action

  • Reinforce them with pinned comments

  • And give people a reason to follow
